InfoPath Dev

Hi there,

 I was wondering if anyone new of anyway to remove characters from field names, perhaps using Xpath? When I use submit to sharepoint to save my form to a library I'm using fields that can contain ampersands and brackets.  Of course, these forms wont save with illegal characters.  The field that infopath is using to save is a text box that takes the name of another field.

I'd like to take the name of the other field but find a way to remove these particular characters. I looked at the "translate funcion" but that appears only to change upper and lower case.

Any help would be appreciated.

Further to my last post, the Translate function does work, it's just my limited knowledge of Xpath Syntax.  Anyway, for those of you who do want to know:

translate(@Name[@JobCodeID = @JobCode], "&/\*?<>:", "")

That's all my illegal characters at the end.

translate(Field, "Characters", "Character(s) to replace or leave blank to remove)
Make sure all parts are seperated by a comma
