I was thinking it would be helpful to create a web part on Sharepoint, that could maintain sets of licenses used by my team and our end users.
We have multiple applications in use, and each may have 1 license per user, 1 license for a set of users, a license and user name or registration number, etc. I started to envision an Infopath form. What I need help with is how to design the form to work the way I want.
I would have fields like so:
Application Name
Then I would have a section set up, where the user can add a next to have a second one. The purpose would be so that if I get a 2 user license for this application, I can enter in the info for the 2 licenses and their usage. 6 Months later I get a 5 user license, and I need to enter that info in, I can replicate the section and enter that info in. Make sense?
So the section would look like this:
Bundle (license) Name:
Amount of Users:
Registration #:
License #:
User1 Name:
User1 PC Name:
User2 Name:
User2 PC Name:
Two thoughts here:
one on user name additions -
Either you can just hit an "add" button to add another username/pcname -or-
the "amount of users" number you enter would trigger that many user# names and PC names to show up.
The Bundle/Section thought:
At the bottom, you have a button to add another bundle and you can do it all over again, for when you purchase another bundle that has a different reg and license info.
Summary thoughts:
Then for this application, on the sharepoint page showing the summary for this application, it would have a total of all "amount of users" in every bundle, and the total usernames filled out in each bundle for what is in use, for a result of how many are available.
Please tell me if I am out of my gord and getting too complicated!
Thanks.
