InfoPath Dev

I have set up a new form to submit data to an Access database (table). It works fine except -- the "must fill" is grayed out on the text fields that I placed on the form.  Why would Infopath do that, and How can I get around that. I am using Infopath 2003.

1. I set up the form based on a data connection. The main will submit and receive.

2. I drag the text from the data source onto the form. (Except the must fill is grayed out).

When we take the data connections to data base 'Cannot be blank' option will be disabled for all fields. We can use Data validations for these fields if we want to make the field required. To add Data validations
Right click on the field go to Data Validation->Click on Add -> Set the condition and add the screen tip.
