Hey Michael.
I like to be as code free as possible so I can appreciate what you are doing!
Here are some ideas.
Add a submit dc to your form which on a button submits the current form to a form library. This can be a "hidden" / obscured, utility library just for the purpose of triggering a workflow. You can then dump the form copy but at least it will have done its purpose and not been too inefficient. You could have one for each thing you need to kick off.
Another option is to use a CAML, which you can update or add items to a SharePoint list. Then that could also be submitted without code to trigger a workflow.
So you just need to be able to tickle SP from the form and then should be able to respond with the appropriate workflow.
Good Luck.
