    Multiple Managers

I think i have seen the solution on here before but i cannot find it.  This is for a leave slip.

What i am trying to accomplish, is that I have a form that uses a person's domain login account(in the form domain\username) as the control for viewing different items and views in a form.

When an employee fills it out, i can use the moss 2007 web services to get that person's manager information.  The manager then does the approval.

The workflow sends the email to the manager to approve the document.

But here is the catch, if that manager is our on vacation or gone or doesn't approve the leave in appropriate time, they want any supervisor from the employee's immediate to the director to be able to approve the leave.

So if i would fill it out:

    1. The employee (me)

    Approvers:
    2: Immediate manager
    3: Immediate Supervisors Manager
    4: Director

So 2,3 & 4 could all approve the leave.  However many users might just have the director as their immediate supervisor.

I am maintaining the Director's Account in the database I am using for the form.

     Suggestions on doing this?

Also to further complicate:  I have a set of 3 time keepers that always will need approval capabilities as well.

    Thanks!

    Hi BarMatt80 and welcome!

Forms-based workflow is your friend. You can create user roles and open rules to do what you want. In the InfoPath Designer, go to Tools->User Roles and create the user roles for your approvers and timekeepers. If the approvers are active directory based, you can use our ADWS (Active Directory Web Service) to get manager info. Otherwise, you might have to write some code. If you can hardcode the managers and directors based on rules, that might be easier, but won't work for a large org. Anyway, we can help you set up a form here if you purchase the ADWS. Not a sales pitch by any stretch, but that's the only way I know of dynamically doing it without code.

Since you have the directors account in the DB, you could create a data connection to load that. However, that still leaves the immediate and supervisor. My suggestion would be to fill those out when the employee submits (using ADWS) and then use User Roles and Open Rules to force the form read-only on open after initial submit unless the user is either the Immediate Manager or Supervisor Manager (in which case they have write view).

Easy to do but will likely take a few hours to configure. If you want us to help, let us know. We have support packs available on Qdabra.com if you'd like assistance (go to Products->Support and click on Support Incidents). Guaranteed to be well worth your time. :)

Otherwise, please respond here with any questions or comments.

Hope this was some help ...
