Get infopath to remember ODBC login credentials

    Hi all

This is my first post here.  Have just started using infopath, its a bit fiddly but a great tool.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've setup Infopath to query an Oracle database by using MS Access as a layer in between.  Access has a few queries setup to pull the data from the oracle database.  Infopath then connects to these access queries to get what it needs (each of these queries is setup as a separate table in Infopath).

My problem is although everything is working fine Infopath repeatedly asks for my login credentials for the oracle database.  I can't find a way to get Infopath to remember these details once I have entered them once.  For this particular form I have 4 tables so it asks me 4 times to enter my username and password which as you can imagine is quite annoying.

    Anyone have a solution?

    Cheers

Hi James, Welcome to the forum.

This would be more getting Access, since it is the proxy, to cache the credentials or use a service account then InfoPath.  I have done a similar architecture with SQL and Oracle. Then SQL controls the permissions and uses a service account to connect to Oracle.

I would be curious to see how you have this setup as typically we use web services, which makes the data manipulation much more straight forward and overcomes some of InfoPath's default limitations (fiddlyness).

Send me an email if you would like to discuss.

Thanks Clay - thats a great help, I've managed to solve this now by getting access to manage the passwords.  When you are adding a linked table in Access there is a small option in the bottom right hand corner of the wizard to save the password (not very obvious at all).  That does the trick, Infopath doesnt have to do anything at all then.

    Thanks again!

    James
