external data source - unwanted data

TOM should not show up in my Client drop down list. Do you know why?

Thank you for your help. I'm appreciated.

    Hi

This is because TOM is defined as a client in your datasource.  You would either have to filter out TOM or modify the datasource to achieve this.

    Cheers

    Hi

Could this be that although the display name is TOM is the data being recorded actually something different like TOM's ID.  If so, then the filter would have to reference his ID not TOM.

    Cheers

From what I can see your filter is on the name field not on the client drop down.

You would need to edit the dropdown, I believe you want some cascading drop downs. You can do a search and find lots of examples for cascading.

I am not sure if you are putting a filter on data in your main data source or the secondary but I believe you have placed your filter on the wrong item.

Thanks Clay for reply; don't know what to do without you. you're da man :D

I put my filter in my secondary data source.

    1. Point my data source to xml file

    2. select NAME field to display

    3. select filter on NAME field base on the form field.

    My form field are                            field1,      field2,field3,field4,  field5,  field6.

My secondary data source field are Country, Make, Year, Model, Color, NAME

I'm doing filter base on field1,      field2,field3,field4,  field5,  field6. Cause that is the value that user selected. It doesn't give what I want.

I'm not sure what you mean by "placed your filter on the wrong item"

    thank you for your help

    ==========================

I get it. Thanks Clay again

filter on Country is equal to field1 ..........

    sweet
