    Wizard Based Form Question

    Hi All,

I am trying to create a wizard based type of form and need some suggestions.  Basically, the wizard will consist of 4 steps the user will need to go thru to fill out the form.  What is the best way to accomplish this?

What I am thinking is to create 4 sections in one view.  On the top of the view, create a navigational link (example, step1 > step2 > step3 > step4).  Clicking on each step would only show that section and hide the rest.  The issue I am running into here is how to create this navigational link.  In order words, how do your setup this each link to hide or show the proper section?  I trying using the Hyperlink control but it is for setting URL or datasource.

    Thanks in advance.

It can be done the way you have descirbed but more common is to use a view for each step and then have buttons which switch to each view.

To do what you want you would need a field to keep track of the section you want to display.  It could be a numeric 1,2,3,4 or be a text and you have a name for each section.

You would need navigation buttons to move through them. Typically I would hide them until needed. So on part 1 the only button is next. then part two maybe there is a next and previous, or whatever. These buttons would set your field.

Then each section would have conditional formatting to hide unless the field had its name or number.

Another trick is that the hyperlink is only for external links. However you can add a button then go into Borders and Shading and select none for the border and make the shading no color.  Then wou can change the forn to Blue and underline and you have replicated a hyperlink to the user.

    Have Fun

     Hey Clay,

Thanks for the suggestion.  I was thinking about using different views initially.  I was not sure if it will retain data entered in the previous page.  Also, not sure how to keep track of sections.  Can you please explain how to keep track of the sections (views)?

    Thanks
