copy a select number of values from a repeating table

Hallo, i have a repeating table that gets data from a cached list, this repeating table gets filtered by a set of dropdowns, i have a button on each repeat that copies the data from that current section value into another repeating section for review purposes, what i need to do is a select all button that would copy all data from the visible filtered repeating section and move it onto the review repeating section so to review:

     > repeating table that filters from a data source

     > currently have a select button which takes data from one section

     > need to get a select all button which copies all data from all visible sections

i know as usual its cryptic but thats the way my mind works >.<

i was thinking of perhaps calling the button function and trying to find some way of looping through them but i dont know how to get repeating section id's and i suck at jscript

    thank you!

    Hi ninjaben,

Why do you have a completely seperate section dedicated for reviewing?  Why don't you just use further filtering to filter the first table down to the ones that are marked for review.  This way, all your button would do would be to set a new "needsReview" field to true.

If you do this, then your code to "move" everything to the review section will be to simply loop through and set every row's needsReview node to true.

    Hope this helps!

    Hello

     thanks for tyour reply

i need the section for reviewing so someone can add items from several categories to compare them and the select all so that an entire section can be reviewed and compared afgainst other items they wish to compare

i know this is annoying and unusual but thats how it is :(

that needsreview option would be good but i still ned a way of selecting all visible results which im finding to be quite problematic >.<

As long as you do not create a new section in your data source to store the rows that need review, I think everything will be fine.  Just add a "needsReview" boolean to all the tables that you wish to pull into the review view.

Then, to create the review view, create new instances of the same repeating sections and bind them to the original data source.  Then add data filtering so that it only shows the rows that are marked as needing review.  If you stack the repeating sections just right you can make it look like one big table with rows from all of the different tables running together to seem like one table.  They will be grouped by table, but I don't think that should make a difference.

     Hope this helps!

Re: copy a select number of values from a repeating table

cheers i did try that technique unfortunatly i have a secondary data sourse with over 1.4k items in it to ive used caching to get the query time down unfortunatly this caching happens each time the form is loaded meaning any items with a reviewNeeded true status is resett to false each time the form is loaded making this techninique somewhat useless and i cannot impliment a column in the sharepoint list called reviewNeeded as that column cannot be shown for clarity reasons, plus if i were to impliment that column then it would only be usefull for one infopath query as values would be saved and faul up the next query

argghhh this is annoying me :)

but thanks so much for your help sofar, its given me hope for this problem lol :p

Can't you add Hidden columns to a SharePoint list?  This would not reduce clarity and also increase functionality.

Yes, but by doing that only one search could be fully effective, searches other then the first would be bias towards the results the first one changed in the list, if this makes any sence, i am still very new to sharepoint, agilepoint and infopath tho >.<

I don't understand what you mean when you say that it would bias towards the first search.  You can edit values on the 2DS simply for display purposes without uploading them to SharePoint.

ahh i understand now, but the problem i have with that is that each time the form opens it gets all its values from sharepoint thru cached datra sources, meaning each time the form is opened all sections marked for review would become unmarked and the search would be reset
