    Typical form template file sizes

    Hi,

I'm relatively new to Infopath and just wondering what the average file size is for an Infopath form. I realize that is will vary but I'm trying to get a feel for average size forms.

My form is 117KB in size. Is this considered a small, med, or large size form compared to the industry?

    Thanks
    Lou

    Hi Lou,

Sorry for the lack of response here! I would classify that as a small form. This is how I would classify the sizes:

    Small: 1KB - 250KB
    Medium: 251KB - 500KB
    Large: 500KB - 1MB
    Monsterous: >1MB

With more data connections and code your form size will increase, but images are probably what make the template size go up the fastest.

Re: Typical form template file sizes

is meant with these classification the size of the xsn or the xml files?

are there symptoms of problems known at microsoft with xml files which are bigger than 500kb or 1mb?

because we are actually at the point that files with a size higher than 500kb are becomming more and more standard

and now we are getting problems with these huge files. we can deal with that the performance is going down and the parsing takes longer.

But in the last days we had the problems that infopath was not parsing the xml completely and information in the middle of the document were not shown. After re-opening of the document the missed information were shown, so that we know that our xml is correct. but our users don't open the document twice. So it is possible that they get an error where no error really exists.

So what can do to avoid these errors?

can anyone give me information about the IP parsing process, so that i can understand where and why errors of these kind can occur
