    Form cannot be attached

    Hi

keep getting this message when try to submit my form on to the next user i can seem to solve it by closing the attachment it arrived in but sometimes that doesn't even do it.

The form is linked to 3 access tables tblUsers, Tbl_FSSIssues and Tbl_Progressing that are all related on a one-to-many basis. I have a separate problem in a different forum to do with submitting it on to the database but this error is really frustrating me. It could be they are related but i cannot see how.

For reference, i have put in place 4 workflows for 4 other infopath projects and have never had this problem before. Anyone with any ideas?

I also digitally sign my emails.

This is the error i am talking about
    InfoPath cannot submit the form.
An error occurred while the form was being submitted.
The form cannot be submitted because the form could not be added to the e-mail message as a file attachment.

If anyone could help i woudl much appreciate it.

    Cheers Adam

    Hi Adam,
    Welcome to the Forum!
Can you give more details of the code that sends form as an email?

    No code, just rules

If Unique reference is not blank(which is generated by the database connection) in the first step of the workflow, then perform the rule to send the form to the field 'Progress' in which the user types in the email address they want to send it to.

Checkout filename that you are trying to give attachment does not have unacceptible characters for a filename?
Are you able to submit the form without the attachment?

Were you ever able to submit the form to an email(in any other InfoPath project)?
Did you setup outlook to accept the email?
If setup check out the permission if you can attach a file.

Great! Did you find out why it has failed previously?

    Re: Form cannot be attached

    Nope

All i can think was that the somehow outlook got confused as it had two attachments named the same thing coming in and going out. In my latest version the name of the attachment is different and perhaps that helps?

    Re: Form cannot be attached

Finally had time to test the error and this will always re-occur where forms are mailed around as part of the workflow AND the attachment names are idnetical for the incoming email and the outgoing email.  This is because outlook creates a temporary file in C:\temp for all attachments, where you try and create an attachment to send out with the same name as the attachment that came in the new attachment cannot be created as it would overwrite the old one that is in use.

For example I authorise an expense item

I receive the form in as an attachment called Form1.xml.  I amend the form and press the button to sumbit it on to the next step where the attachment will also be called Form1.xml.  As the button actions, it tries to create an attachment in c:\temp and finds it cannot as Form1.xml is already in use.  Where the data connections for the incoming and outgoing use different attachment names the error does not occur.

Hope this helps anyone who has this error and I have only retested it with Outlook, not other mail products.

    Cheers Adam
