    Data Validation

I have created a text box for the user to input a NAME. I have also created a validation condition for the input that says, If the "NAME" box is "BLANK", display an ERROR MESSAGE. I have also checked the validation rule "CANNOT BE BLANK"

When I preview the form and set the focus to the NAME box, then tab past this field, my error message does not display. But when I tab to the field, then delete the already EMPTY text box and try to tab past the field, then the error message is displayed??

This seems wrong? Should'nt the error message get displayed if I try to tab pass the field without entering data??

    Hello

Datavalidation works only when the Users enter Invalid data, but tab past this field doesnt mean that you enter Invalid data. Checking the validation rule "CANNOT BE BLANK" will make the field as required.
If you want you can put a condition to prevent the form to be submitted as long as the field is blank

    Hey There,

I got around this issue by putting in some default text such as "insert name here" - when the users get to this field that have to delete the default text in order to put their name. If they delete it and then move on, it gives them the validation error.

It is not perfect, but a small work around. I was having the same issue as you.

    Cheers
