    InfoPath and SQL

I'm new to InfoPath, but have sucessfully figured out how to link controls to various SQL tables, filter the data, ect.

The problem is that is seems way to slow. Some of the database tables that I'm displaying are fairly large, however I'm only displaying certain values based of other fields with my filter logic. The problem is that InfoPath seems to need to read ALL the data in and then filter it afterwards, which makes the form painful.

I'm new to this, so I'm sure that I'm just doing something dumb, can someone offer some advice?

Hi JSchweg and welcome to our forum,
We have a solution for you. We are adding a new EnumDB web method to the next release of our Database Accelerator suite that will support filtering within the query using data fields.

You should be using a database query filter, not a InfoPath data filter. To filter in the query string, check out this HowTo:http://www.infopathdev.com/howto/tutorials/default.aspx?i=0bb37b4de44348408680a53a449f2353 or this post:http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2561

As I've been working on and using the EnumDB web service I must say that it is the king of performance. The web service has physical access to the DB on the server-side and then serializing to XML and streaming it down is much faster! You also don't have to deal with permissions and all the extra overhead.
