    stop submit for certain fields

Ok hopefully somebody can help because I have been working on this forever. I have a form with a 2 SQL Data connections (one for main and one used lookups). On this form I have numerous cascading lists which I am able to show the data correctly. The problem is I do not want the submit to update the data from these lists, the lists are simply to help the users, organize the data. If I do not put tables which make up the lists in the Main Connection, I cannot get the filters to work correctly but if I put the tables in the Main Connection everytime a user submits the data an attempt is made by infopath to update those tables which populate the lists which causes errors.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks

Hi Dave W and welcome to our forum!
Why doesn't filtering work on secondary data sources? It should. If I understand you correctly, you have dropdowns displaying the data from SQL that you want to use to filter the main data source data but you don't want to submit that dropdown data. That should be totally doable using rules and filters. Of course, InfoPath dialog hell makes it difficult, but bottom line is that it should be doable.

    Patrick,

I agree that it should be doable, I've managed to some fairly robust things from within Infopath, just for some reason this doesn't work.

Matt, I'll review your links and see if it gives any insight.

    Hi again,
If you can give us your exact repro steps, we can look into it. Alternately, you can send us your XSN with instructions and we can take a quick look.
