Update query in Access into InfoPath

I have a table in Access, which is my datasource, the user makes a selection then the data is submitted to access. an update query needs to be run to calculate a field and then return the data back to InfoPath. Is there a way that i can i get infopath to run the query or have the query run automatically on the table.
    Kind regards
    Stu

    Hi Stu,

I don't understand your scenario. Can you give more detailed scenario.

You can run query on Access from Infopath. What kind of calculation are you looking for ? Does it need other rows in the table ?

    thanks, Shyam

Re: Update query in Access into InfoPath

    Hi,

I have some date fields in my table and i want to do an datediff query in access to update a new field called time_difference. I either need to run the update query from infopath or some how get the table to update itself, when new dates are selected in infopath.
any help would be most appreciated.

Re: Update query in Access into InfoPath

If you are using .NET code or JScript in your InfoPath Form, then you can write whatever code you want(for doing datediff or building the access query) in your functions and call those functions in OnAfterChange event method or the Submit/Save event method.

If you do NOT want to use .NET code or JScript in your Infopath Form you can use xsl to do the datetime diff and use that value to build the access query and do a submit directly from Infopath. But this option is a litle bit more involved and needs a deeper understanding of Infopath functionality.
