    Design Questions

    I need to write a solution using infopath, sharepoint and ms sql server. My client has an intranet set up using sharepoint, and wants to use infopath to keep track of sales and stores information.

    A typical form will have a drop down list at the top that contains all the stores in the database (ms sql server). When the user selects one of the stores, that store's details should be shown on the form (id, name, address, etc). Each store has sales records in the database. The form will have a button/link below the store's details, that when clicked, will display that store's sale's records in a repeating table. (I'm not sure if having a drop down list supplying the stores is the correct thing to do...what if the user is offline?0

    The user needs to be able to;

    1. Open a blank form and create new store details, with/without sales details and save to the database

    2 Modify a store's details and save to the database

    3 Modify or add a store's sales record to the database.

    4 The form will be accessible from sharepoint and the user will need the ability to submit offline and online. Most of their work will be done offline.

    I am new to infopath and sharepoint...can you point me in the right direction to creating a solution. I'm not sure how to set to go about it. I have done several infopath training labs, however I have found them a bit basic and I can't seem to find an example that is similar to the problem that I have.

    I am on a deadline and would appreciate a quick response. I'm sure there are some developers out there who would also like to see this response.

    Cheers

    What do you mean by offline here?
    Is it offline with sharepoint or offline with Database?

    1. In your case i dont see any need for sharepoint, because you are submitting data to the database and getting the data tot he database.

    2. Second thing is you cant be offline with regards to the database because you are getting data from the database and submitting data to the database.
