Sum up totals selected by a department using code

How do I total a columns in InfoPath depending on a field (department) using C# or jscript or VBscript in InfoPath. The user will select a department from a drop down box on a InfoPath Form, and automaticly in the totals repeating table on the form it will select the monthlyExpenses and monthlyBudgeted and total them up for the year. Everytime the user selects a different department, the totals will be addded for the year for that department. The department drop down box will all so be connected to a submit data connection. If it is a easier way using rules let me know. Thanks.

    Please help

I've tried to edit the Xpath to get it to query, but this Xpath has errors. with the child operator. Can someone help me out here.

    (/myFields/datafields/d:TOSS/@employeeDepartment( =) '5201') sum(../@monthlyExpenses)
