problem with db connection to a repeating table

I have an access table (ReviewSignOff) which I created a form from. In that same form I have a repeating table which is binded from a different table (ReviewDetails) which I added together with ReviewSignOff.

The problem is I cannot use the ReviewDetails group because it is not a repeating group needed for the repeating table.

I don#%92t want to add ReviewDetails as a secondary table because it is retrieve only access, as I need to save form information into it.

What am I doing wrong or missing?

It sounds like you need a Master/Detail repeating section, but it's hard to decipher exactly what you are doing from your post. Could you please fill us in on some of the details on what you are trying to accomplish and the problem you are seeing?

Re: problem with db connection to a repeating table

My form needs to save information into two tables (ReviewSignOff & ReviewDetails). I need the fields of ReviewDetails referenced by a repeating table.

Problem 1: If I add ReviewDetails when I#%92m initializing the form to access a database (ReviewSignOff), the ReviewDetails group that it creates in the task pane is not a repeating group therefore I cannot create a repeating table to reference it.

Problem 2: If add ReviewDetails as a secondary database I can only retrieve information off of it.

How do I go about doing this?

When InfoPath connects to the database it generates a schema from the XML that is returned. If you have more than one row in the ReviewDetails group when you connect InfoPath to the database, it should generate a repeating group in the Datasource task pane.

I think the above will also help solve problem 2, but it is starting to sound like you might want to look into our Database Accelerator suite - it will do exactly what you are looking for with a complete Web Service middle tier. This extra tier adds much easier configuration, more security options, versioning of your forms, and even a search feature!
