Saving vs Submitting a form in the Form Library.

I have implemented a workflow using Infopath and SharePoint.

As the form progresses in the workflow, each user i.e Approver approves the form.On the click of the Approve button,I use Submitting to SharePoint using Rules or code so that the form is submitted each time to the same folder.
Since the form has the same name, each time I approve, the form over writes the existing form there by ensuring that the latest updated form exists in the form library.
But the problem with this is that the column in SharePoint namely Creation Date keeps changing each time.
But I want the Creation date to contain the date on which this form was first filled and submitted by the Initiator of the form i.e it should keep not change each time.
Only the modified date should change each time.

The problem lies in the fact that the form is over written each time.

I think solution is to avoid submitting. But instead save the form on button click. But on saving I donot want any dialogs to open up.I want the form to be automatically saved in that folder.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Preferably a sample code would be great.
    regards,
    Abhishek

Add a field to your form that gets set with the initial time stamp.
Make this field read-only when the form is in the other states (using conditional formatting)
    Promote this field to SharePoint
Change your default view to include this field and exclude the default Creation Date or Modified field.
