Here is my scenario...

I have two data sources; the main and the secondary pulls data from a SharePoint List. I imported an Outlook group that had a group of people in it.

I created a drop-down list box and pulled in all the last names from the secondary data source.

I then went into the data validation field of the drop-down list box, and entered the following code

Var lastnameField = XDocument.DOM.selectSingleNode(“//my:Last_Name”);

Var fullnameField = XDocument.DOM.selectSingleNode(“//my:field4”);

fullnameField.text = lastnameField.text

Once the user selects a last name it puts the name into field4. This works but what I really want to do is insert the email address( from the secondary data source) into field4 of “Last_Name”

Are you trying to figure out where to get the alias or are you saying that you have it but need to know how to populate based on it?

Assuming you have the list of aliases, you need to filter based on the selected last name to set the e-mail alias. This requires that the secondary data source have LastName, FirstName, and EmailAlias at the same level under a repeating group. Once you have the data, filtering it is easy. You can create a rule when the last name field in the main data source is selected to set the e-mail alias in the main data source is set to the value filtered based on the last name. This can all be done without code. Good luck!
