Customize an expression box or a vertical label

    Hi,

When I use XPath expression to customized the text of the expression box (or the vertical label), is it possible to manage the text like constant characters + variable characters?
    E.g.
    ID: 1
    ID: 2
    ...
Among these, "ID: " are constant characters, and 1/2/... are values of XPath expression "/my:root/my:ID" difference from case to case.

By the way, can I control the expression box (vertical label) in codes?

    Thanks!

    Hello larniel,

You might be able to accomplish this by using the eval() function, but I'm not sure quite what the syntax would be in this scenario. For more info on this function, check out this post on the InfoPath blog:http://blogs.msdn.com/infopath/archive/2006/04/05/569338.aspx

Otherwise, you can control the text that is displayed in an expression box by binding the expression box to a node in a DOM and then using code to manipulate the value of that node. You can create anything in that node and that is what will be displayed in the Expression box.

The former of the two solutions would be much more elegant if you can figure it out, but the latter would probably be easier to accomplish.

    Hi Matt,

That blog helps me a lot.
I found that "concat()" meets my requirement.

    Thank you very much!
