    Security

I'm trying to keep my users from being able to edit a form by opening the form in 'design mode' - I know about the security feature to keep people from editing it... but it is only a 'warning' ... and does not prevent the user from editing the form. I've read that there is some kind of security template that is supposed to be part of the resource kit... but the info is very sketchy at best. Does anyone know how to implement security features to keep users from editing a form?

    Thankx..

I am unaware of anything in a resource kit to do this. The only setting I know of is in the Tools | Form Options dialog. This prevents users from getting into the designer while editing a form, but does not prevent, as you've said, users from right-clicking the XSN or XSF file and choosing Design.

    Thanks...

I got this little ditty from mircrosoft's site... but i can't find any other reference about it...

"You can use the Microsoft Office Resource Kit (ORK) to install policy templates that disable the InfoPath design mode for all users except those specified as form designers. To find the latest information about helping to prevent users from editing your form template, visit the Microsoft Office Resource Kit Web site"

Anyone know what this refers to..? I've downloaded the resource kit... but don't know what this refers to.

What this is about is when you deploy InfoPath in an organization you can actually turn off the designer for a user completely. THis is not a per form setting though. This will apply to that user entirely so they can never design any form. You will find the option in the Custom Installation Wizard.

Ah-Ha... that's it!!! Thanks...! You set the feature up on step #10 of the MSI Wizard to make the Infopath unable to open forms up in design mode. The MS ditty led one to bleive that the security was at the FORM level... the program level. Thanks for your help... it pointed me in the right direction.
