    Need help with check boxes

    To anyone that could help:

I have three check boxes (Chk1, Chk2 & Chk3), only one can be checked at any given time. I put the following rules on all three:

    Chk1:
    Condition: Chk2 = "True" or Chk3 = "True"
    Actions: Set a field#%92s value: .= "False"
Show dialog box message: You can select only one option.

    Chk2:
    Condition: Chk1 = "True" or Chk3 = "True"
    Actions: Set a field#%92s value: .= "False"
Show dialog box message: You can select only one option.

    Chk3:
    Condition: Chk1 = "True" or Chk2 = "True"
    Actions: Set a field#%92s value: .= "False"
Show dialog box message: You can select only one option.

If select Chk1 and try to select Chk2 why is it that the dialog box message displays twice before it sets the value of Chk2 to false. It happens regardless which check box is selected first and the other selected second.

I moved the sequence of the actions around and the problem persists. Any idea on how I can resolve this?

Thank you for the help in advance.

    Hi,

You can do this using conditional formatting.
If any one of the checkbox is checked , remaining two check boxes will be disabled.
If you unchecked the checkbox , disabled checkboxes will be enabled.

I hope this will help for you.
    Thanks.

Re: Need help with check boxes

Keep in mind that rules ONLY get run when the value of the field that owns those rules is changed. So in your scenario, when you select Chk3, the rules on Chk1 and Chk2 will never get run... only the rules on Chk3.

What you need to do is set the rules on each check box such that it sets the other check boxes to False when it is set to True.

    Example:

    Chk1 Condition: . = "True"
    Chk1 Actions:
    Set a field's value: Chk2 = "False"
    Set a field's value: Chk3 = "False"
Show dialog box message: "You can select only one option."
