    PIA error missing microsoft.mshtml.dll

    Hello,

I two application that I have written with managed C# code. These work fine on computers that have Visual Studio installed on them. However, when they are accessed from computers that don't have this they throw a PIA error. We were able to fix the issue by downloading Office 2003 Update: Redistributable Primary Interop Assemblies and installing on the computer. This download broke the Outlook on the computer we tested on, and therefore, we cannot just blindly have it installed on all the users computers. Furthermore, there are potentailly over 1000 users who may use one of the forms.

On the blog Problems When Calling into Script Functions in a Task Pane from Managed Code, they talked about using late binding to fix a similar issue between the managed code and function from a task pane. Neither of my applications are using a task pane, so I did not see how to use this technique for managed code solutions in general.

Is there a way to fix this problem programmatically so the user does not have to download and install the Redistributable Primary Interop Assemblies to run these forms.

    Thank You

Hi Jim, and welcome to our forum. For managed code the PIAs are required. This is the first time I've heard of installing the PIAs causing an issue. Coudl you post here which exact download from MS you used. If .NET and InfoPath are installed and you get PIA errors we direct people here:
