I use Infopath 2007, I have a data connection on a document library in a sharepoint site.

I'd like to go through this data connection to retrieve the highest id (a field of my data connection).

How can I get the highest id ? or how can I go through this using C#?

I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to do but it seems like you are trying to numerically order all of your forms as they are opened. In general this is a tough problem to solve and we have talked about it several times on the forum - try out the search feature.

Otherwise, you might want to try our Database Accelerator web service which allows you to query against a database and this will be much more performant than querying a SharePoint table for something as simple as a number.
