    Submit to database

    Hi Matt,

I read your topic which is "Automatically Populate Fields from a Drop-Down Selection". And I got data from database using secondary connection,it works great for my application.
However, I would like to update the data which is populated on the form and save it into database after using this technique, I could not since the secondary connection is used just for retrieve data. So it means the Submit button is not functioning at this moment. Do you have a workaround? Thanks!

    Hi Accesswang,

I believe the only way to submit data to a database using standard InfoPath functionality is to create a form with a Main DOM schema bound to the database. To do this, create a new form and choose "From Database schema" - this is what allows submission to a database. You should be able to achieve the same things that you're doing with the seconday dom on this new Main DOM - just different XPaths.

On the other hand, you could try our Database Accelerator product which provides much more robust database submission through web services. The web services will also read from the database so that you don't have to store the SQL password in the form. Is there any easy ways to modify the connections to the backend database if I switch the database server from A to B after I published the templates since I published more than 20 templates? Thanks.
