Referencing another another column in another list based off form selection.

Hi All, Wondering if someone can assist. I have two lists one called "Access Locations" which has two columns (location, Approver). The other list "Access Requests" stores data from the infopath form that's complete by users. When filling out the infopath "Access Request" form the user selects a location from a drop-down. This references the location column in the "Access Location" List. In the background I'd like an infopath rule to run whereby it queries the "Access Location" list for the associated approver for the location the user selected. When attempting this I don't get much luck, I've tried setting up a new data connection and tried to filter the data results based on the end user selection. This as far as I understand should return the Approver value which I can then set to another string field within the "Access Request" form. This approver would then be emailed via a workflow to approve the access. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Many Thanks, Jack

I'm happy to help you with this - what would be simplest for me would be if you could attach the template under the Options tab in a reply and the I can help you directly with the rules.

Hello, Thank you for your help! Do you know where I'd find the template to upload? Many Thanks,

Ok, I should have been more clear - these are .stp files, so are the templates for the lists themselves. Is your Access Request list using a customized InfoPath form for the list form? It sounded like it was from your initial question - that's the template I'd like. I can add your list templates to one of my SharePoint sites and get the template that way, I think, but I'd much rather just have the Access Request InfoPath form if that's possible?

Apologies, hopefully this is what you require :)

Yep, but I see that the user can select multiple items in the Group Access field - that actually makes this a little trickier - mainly in that the multi-select in InfoPath doesn't always fire rules the way one would anticipate. At what point to you need to have the list of approvers for the selected location(s)? When the user clicks submit?

I see, Yes all we require is that the associated approver email is saved in a column with that request upon submitting. A workflow will then use that information in the background.
