Filtered content in Infopath Richtext box have no line breaks.

I have an 2013 InfoPath form.

I filter a Richtext box field (called DestinationTextBox) which I filter to display the content of another Richtext box field (Called SourceTextBox).

In the SourceTextBox the content is:

    Line1

    Line2

    but the DestinationTextBox displays

    Line1Line2.

which does not have any line breaks.

Is it possible to display  DestinationTextBox's content the same as SourceTextBox with line breaks?

You actually would have to copy in the inner XML, which InfoPath is not going to do for you out of the box. Do you just want the user to be able to see this data? If so - you could use another RT box bound to the same field, set to read only.

    Hi Hilary,

thank you for replying. How do I copy the inner XML?

That's right I only want user to see this data, not changing it.

I don't quite following what you mean by "use another RT box bound to the same field". There are 18 SourceTextboxs and depending on what combinations of dropdown lists are selected, 1 of 18 SourceTextboxs' content will be filtered and displayed on DestinationTextBox. Can I still "use another RT box bound to the same field"?

    thanks.

Here's a sample, save it locally, right click the saved copy, select design & preview. You can just have a copy of every field with conditional formatting to determine what to display. You won't be able to copy the rich text from one field to another without using code or qRules to copy the inner XML.

     Hi Hilary,

thank you for creating the form. this is exactly what I needed. I assume this is the code solution? If so, can you please explain how you implement this solution?

    thanks.

No - there is no code. I simply added multiple copies of the same RT box to the form and added conditional formatting. Take a look at the rules on the read only controls.

     Hi Hilary,

the DestinationTextBox (please see my earlier post) content must be filtered. The content will be dynamic. That is, more content will be added by user in the list (where the DestinationTextBox content is filtered by 3 drop down lists)

even if it's not dynamic, it will be very difficult to add 18 possible results on the form, and then filter it on the form by rule.

You mentioned earlier "copy in the inner XML" can you expand on that? may be that's the solution?

    thanks.

I wouldn't consider adding 18 fields and rules to display them difficult (especially if you aren't a dev and the alternative is custom code) - but, sure, you can write code for this. As long as this isn't an Office 365 browser form. Screenshots from this blog post are 2007, but the OM is the same with IP 2010 and 2013, so the code will be similar. I'm sure you can find other samples online as well.
