I am getting the following error, when I submit form to SharePoint list and prepare an email. Changes were made to field names in data sources during review due to new understanding of identifiers. I have reviewed the rules, fields, and I do not see where the duplicate values are found. I am considering rebuilding the entire form. Any assistance will be appreciated. Thank you in advance

     InfoPath cannot submit the form.
    Some rules were not applied.
    InfoPath cannot submit the form.
An error occurred while the form was being submitted.
The submit operation to SharePoint failed:

The list item could not be added or updated because duplicate values were found in one or more fields in the list.

I am not sure, but I think that error is because there may be a constraint on a column in the list. So, in the list settings, are any of the columns set to only allow unique values?

I had one field with requiring unique values and changed it to not require, solved the submit issue, but I do not understand why I would get the error message. The values are generated from a calculation from the ID field.

I am able to submit the record now and it prepares the email message and submits the record, however, it displays the following error message

    InfoPath cannot submit the form.
    Some rules were not applied.
    InfoPath cannot submit the form.
    Operation aborted

There are 2 rules in the form, 1 to populate the email fields, the other to prepare the email message, and save the record. I am not aware of any other rules. Suggestions?

I reloaded the file after the update with the unique field change if this helps

Maybe change your submit button to use custom rules instead of being a "submit" button. Add just the rule to submit the form to the list - see if that works. If it does, add your rule to submit to email again. That way you can at least troubleshoot the issue. All your required fields were filled out when you submitted?

Thanks. All required fields are filled out. I have it narrowed down to the rule that is causing the problem - submit email. I am still working it but I may ask for a lifeline if I do not get it resolved.

Dumb question - you've verified the field that is the "to" for the email is populated?

Yes, it gets it from the form and fills it into the to field and it is displayed in the prepared email. The form appears to work, it sends the email (to myself) and the record is submitted to the list, but I see the error message, which means the user will see the message and they will think there is a problem.

Still getting the error message, but the email is prepared and it saves the record to the SharePoint list. The Submit Form rule has the data connection "Submit Request for Assistance Email", when I add this rule, that is when the message appears. Any assistance will be appreciated. Thank you in advance

And have you tried switching the order of the rules? So it submits to email first then to the list? Have you tried changing from submit rules to regular rules? If you add a button that only executes the email submit, does it succeed?

And have you tried switching the order of the rules? So it submits to email first then to the list? Yes, 1) email first, email display, submit to list does not work, but error message is displayed. 2) submit list first, record is submitted to list, email generated, but still get error message Have you tried changing from submit rules to regular rules? Yes If you add a button that only executes the email submit, does it succeed? Yes, email is generated but still get error message Tried submit button in both the ribbon and the info tab in the InfoPath filler, and perform custom action using rules I have tried stripping the form removing all fields and rules and only adding fields that are absolutely needed, again email is generated, but error message is displayed placing submit in custom action rules, ribbon and Info tab

I'll set up a test form later today and see what happens on my SharePoint site if I send an email from a list form. This is SharePoint 2010?

    Re: InfoPath 2010 Submit Error

Well - I set up a test form, customizing a list form on SharePoint 2010. I just used a very simple form - added a button that sends an email, with the To address as a form field - email sent, no error. So - I'm not sure what to suggest here. Maybe your SharePoint admin can take a look at the ULS logs and see if there is anything helpful?
