I have 4 custom lists built and I am attempting to have a drop-down column in the "Email" custom list be able to select a specific department based on the employee name and email address. I figured out how to make the drop-down menu work if I set the drop-down properties (Get Choices From External Data Source) to a specific custom list, however this will only work for a specific employees. In other words, if I set the field to LawsonDept it allows me to only see the choices for that employee. However I need to automate this so it will set the 'Get Choices From External Source" automatically based on employee or email address either by creating a rule or a script (Java or PowerShell). Unfortunately I have no experience in Java and PowerShell scripting. I hope someone can provide me with some advice as this needs to be configured this way so employees can only choose the department choices they work with.
Thanks in advance,
Ron
