Checkbox not clickable in "view" form

Hello Perhaps I am missing something very basic in InfoPath design (due to my newbie status), but I am unable to resolve this issue: I have a checkbox in my defaul "view item" form that is displayed, when a user opens a list item. In this form I have a checkbox, that shows a certain hidden part of the form when ticked. However, users are unable to tick the checkbox, because (as far as I have been able to conclude), this is the view form which doesn't allow any editing. If I am creating a new item or editing the item, I can use the checkbox. What am I missing? How can I have a checkbox working in the default "View item" form? Thank you!

--- Edit: I know that in infopath "View properties" there is a "read only" checkbox, but It is unselected, so this cannot be the issue.

I did some more research and the problem here is indeed, that the form that is loaded is "ReadOnly" in sharepoint, even though in InfoPath no such choise is made. Is there any way around this issue?:

    - How to make a checkbox/button/imagebutton selectable/clickable in the default "View Item" form?

I don't think you can - I think the point of the "view" form is that you can only read data there, not change it.
