Hi,

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but often my external data connections that are used to populate dropdown lists get reset. In particular, dropdown lists that are used as query fields!!! Regular dropdown lists do not appear to be affected by this.

• My forms are being published to SharePoint 2010.
• My forms are being edited with InfoPath Designer 2010.

To clarify further, when a queryfield dropdown list is getting choices using the Get choices from an external data source, this option continually gets changed to Get choices from fields in this form which always results in a publishing error. This occurs if I close and reopen the form for editing or if I change views within the form. The workaround is to once again select Get choices from an external data source and then re-publish.

Is there a way to ensure that these connections don't continually reset? Is this a security measure? Or is there simply something I am doing wrong?

I've only been using InfoPath 2010 for about a week so I apologize in advance if I have missed the obvious answer.

It might be a bug - can you try creating a new dropdown list box for your query field and delete the one that's problematic?

 I am having the same issue as the original poster on many different forms.  Has anyone found a resolution?  It is a pain to reset the drop-downs every time I work on a form.  Especially in development when I am constantly making changes.
