Can the Submit to SharePoint be used to submit to a SharePoint external content type

    Hi,

I have been asked to collect and manage some data.  I could collect the data in a SharePoint list - but the additional reporting required from that data will be more flexible using SQL Reporting Services.  So I am thinking of creating an SQL table and an external content type in SharePoint.

I want to have an InfoPath form for the users to enter the data, can the Q-rules submit to SharePoint list be used to a SharePoint external content type ?

    Thank you

    Catharine

    Hi Catharine,

For this you would actually want to use a web service. The DBXL Web service can be used in conjunction with DBXL to submit directly to the SQL database. DBXL would allow you to take a form submission and build a database mapping to send the data directly to your SQL table, and even sub tables.

Here's a link to some details about DBXL: http://www.qdabra.com/en/products/DBXL.aspx but please feel free to contact me directly if you have questions about the method.

    Thanks,
    Bre
