Tie Two Nested Repeating Tables Together

    • InfoPath 2010
    • SharePoint 2010 Lists
    • No qRules yet, but will have

    Scenario:

    • Two Lists, where List 2 has a lookup field from List 1.

I've asked about this before, but not this specifically.  =)

SP List 1 - List of Goals

SP List 2 - List of Objectives with a lookup to SP List 1.  An Objective can be tied to only 1 Goal.

I attached what I have so far...

I want to only show the Site Objectives where the Site Goal-LU = Site Goal.  Is there a way to tie the nested Repeating Table to the main Repeating Table?

    THANKS!

    Hello klink,

qRules would definitely be the way to solve this. You'll need to bring everything into the main data source. You'd first query the goals list as the Parent and then use Insert to add the correct number of children to each goal, and set value to populate the children objectives text. Inserting and setting values in nested sections is tricky, so xpath becomes key when creating complex actions.

If the user picks a goal and then the objectives populate it's a bit easier as far as inserting with the parent child relationship.

    Hope that helps!
    Bre
