Error when opening with InfoPath 2010 but opens fine in InfoPath 2013

We are seeing a strange error for users who have InfoPath 2010 installed on their machines. This issue does not happen for anyone opening the forms in InfoPath 2013. We injected the form with QRules v6.1 and applied the InfoPath 2010 Rich Client settings.

Here is the message users opening the form with InfoPath 2010 see:

Form template: http://team.gt.com/sites/ppmdpanel/fy16%20managing%20partner%20nomination%20form/forms/template.xsn?OpenIn=PreferClient&NoRedirect=true&XsnLocation=/sites/ppmdpanel/fy16%20managing%20partner%20nomination%20form/forms/template.xsn InfoPath cannot open the selected form because of an error in the form's code. Could not load file or assembly 'D:\Users\USXXXXX \AppData\Local\Microsoft\InfoPath\FormCache3\C95EE33E.396\db5ede5944c5459f$be1ea92c8352e4ae\Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.Client2013.dll' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.

Here are the result from when the form was injected:

Adding a file reference to Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.Client2010.dll File reference to QdabraRules.xml already exists, skipping Adding a file reference to QdabraRules.xsd xsf2:managedCode node already exists, skipping scriptLanguage attribute already present, skipping QdabraRules data object found. Removing. Creating the QdabraRules data object Copying C:\Program Files (x86)\Qdabra Software\Qdabra Rules Library\DLLs\Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.Client2010.dll to D:\Users\US17724\AppData\Local\Temp\btyqpyo2.dic\Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.Client2010.dll Info: file D:\Users\US17724\AppData\Local\Temp\btyqpyo2.dic\QdabraRules.xml already exists, overwriting Copying C:\Program Files (x86)\Qdabra Software\Qdabra Rules Library\QdabraRules.xml to D:\Users\US17724\AppData\Local\Temp\btyqpyo2.dic\QdabraRules.xml Copying C:\Program Files (x86)\Qdabra Software\Qdabra Rules Library\QdabraRules.xsd to D:\Users\US17724\AppData\Local\Temp\btyqpyo2.dic\QdabraRules.xsd Sample data already has an entry for the QdabraRules data connection, skipping Re-injection complete.

Is this something you can help with? I can provide a copy of the form we are using, however, I'd rather not post it directly in the forum for confidentiality reasons.

    Thanks!

    Hey, Steve:

Sorry we missed this yesterday. I just sent you an email via the forum as well - can you send me your template? I'd like to take a quick look at it. Thanks!

Hi, Steve - I see in your template you do have the 2010 client DLL. But in the error message, it shows the 2013 DLL:

Could not load file or assembly ... Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.Client2013.dll' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.

Did the template at one time have the Client2013 DLL? Is it possible the users w/ this issue have the old template cached? In InfoPath Filler, they can go to the File > New menu, find the template, right click and select Get update or Remove to either update or removed the cached template.

Hi Hilary, The only scenario that makes sense is the template must have been published originally with the 2013 DLL. It is now working without issue for our InfoPath 2010 users. Thank you for helping us confirm this. -Steven
