Hi, I've watched Jennifer's video about Parent-Child list forms on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H09KGvd3vZw with great interest and re-created the lists and forms on my system. One issue, though:
At 21:55 we can see an error. I also get this error when I try to add a new item, and I think I found the reason. The error only comes up if the main data source has already been populated. So, if you open the form and click "New item" right away, everything works fine. The form is in "new item mode". If you open the form, edit one item, and THEN click New item, it will fail, since the main data source contains the previously edited item and the form is now in "edit item mode". Blanking out the ID will not be sufficient to start a new item. Instead, the Submit will attempt to change the existing item. Trying to submit an existing item with a blanked ID is the cause of the error. The error also happens when you open the form, create a new item and then create another new item.
Are my assumptions about the cause of this error correct? Do you see the same thing?
How can we clear the main data source after editing an existing item, so we can truly create a new one? If that won't work, the whole approach will fall flat, since users will want to add new items after editing existing ones. Or add several new items without closing the form.
cheers, Ingeborg
