Good Afternoon,
I am really hoping someone can help me with this issue. I have an Infopath form that I am creating to collect exception expenses from my employees. The form is connected to an access database that has two main tables (among other objects of course). One table [tblEmployee] is an employee general information table (Fields: full name, first name, last name, email, address, etc, and the primary key is their ID (text-employee id)). The second table is the exception table [tblExceptions] that receives the infopath submissions (Fields: full name, date of exception, hrs worked, description, approved, etc.- the primary key on this table is ID(autonumber assigned to submission). The two tables have been linked in access in a one to many relationship. [ID] in Employee table to [Employee] in Exceptions table. Referential integrity is enforced as well as the cascading update and delete related records options.
The fields on the form are data fields tied to the Exceptions table: Employee (relationship tie), date of exception, hrs worked, type, and description. I currently have a secondary data source that the infopath form receives the employee names to populate the drop down list in the employee field. This was done to make sure that the employee names match the names listed in my "tblEmployee" table and someone doesn't enter 'Bobby' instead of 'Robert', etc. The huge problem is that when you go to submit the form you get an error that states, "InfoPath cannot submit the form. An error occurred while the form was being submitted.
You cannot add or change a record because a related record is required in table 'tblEmployee'". I am not sure what it is that they are looking for. I am praying that it is just something simple that my sleep deprived mind is overlooking. Please help me. I have to have the Employee field populated because this field is what connects other important employee data like department names, supervisor info, etc. It drives many forms and reports in my access database. Any help will be so greatly appreciated!!!
