task pane shows xml code instead of data

     Hi,

I am trying to add a custom task pane for a help screen. I added in an xml file, but the task pane shows the code rather than what I want it to do. I'm aiming for when a user clicks in a field, the task pane will give a description of what needs to be entered. Below is what I started. Of course this will be used for many more fields, but wanted to make sure I get one right before continuing on. I'm probably missing a step somewhere, but I would appreciate any assistance.

     thanks,

    Frankie D.

     Hi Frankie,

What exactly do you mean by "task pane"? Are you creating a custom view in your InfoPath form?

Not really a view - but a custon task pane. If you go to Form Options>Programming you'll see the selection where it says enable custon task pane. So that is what I am trying to incorporate. But the idea I want is when a user clicks in a field - a task pane will give details of what to enter (sort of a help screen). I have used this in other forms that were previously created (so I just edited/maitained the created task pane), but I have not created one before. I think I found the issue - the resource file I was referencing is a .xml file and I believe I need to convert it to a .hml file. So I'm trying to figure out how to do this. From what I can see - I also need to create a onChange function. The old forms I was maintaining used JScript for this task, and now 2010 does not support this. So I'm trying to figure it all out. I'm not sure if this needs to be in code or if there is an easier function in the 2010 version. It's been a while since I used infopath and coming into the new changes of 2010 make it interesting.
