Repeating table used twice on a form, why can't I disable Add/Remove on one?

I have a bit of a weird situation I'm hoping that someone can help me with.  I have an InfoPath 2010 form with a repeating table appearing twice in the same view.  I have a rule on both appearances - the first appearance hides controls where a value in the table = 0, the second appearance hides controls where a value does not equal 0.  This works fine.

The problem is that I don't want users to be able to insert or delete rows in the first occurrence of the table.  I right-click the table and deselect "Allow users to insert and delete rows", but when I deploy it the functionality still exists.

I'm assuming it has something to do with the fact I use the same table twice on this view, but this was the only way I could think of to prevent users from deleting existing rows but still be able to insert new rows (and delete the new rows if needed).  If you have an idea to accomplish that, I would love to hear it :)

    Thank you!

Oh, I did have another idea that didn't work if maybe someone can help with that instead... If I have just one occurrence of the repeating table and set a formatting condition rule if that field value does not equal 0 then "Don't allow users to insert or delete this control".  This works great except when I click "Add new rows" on the table nothing happens.  The default value of that field in my condition is 0.

Hi - Is this a browser form? I've seen this happen before in browser forms and actually ended up having to do some manual clean up to the manifest file fix it - the Insert button doesn't show, but they can still remove / add from the blue arrow menu options on the rows themselves?

Hi Hilary, thank you so much for responding.

If you are referring to my first post, you are absolutely correct.

Yes, I was replying to your initial post - the formatting that disables add / remove rows will disable for the whole table, not just a single row.

For the table you don't want the user to be able to add / remove on, but the arrow shortcuts show, could you try adding conditional formatting with the first dropdown set to "the expression" and just type the number 1 in the text field? Then check don't allow user to add / remove - see if having a condition that is always true makes those shortcuts go away.

Oh dear, it seems I spoke too soon.

Looks like I disabled adding/deleting in the second table during my troubleshooting.  Once I added it back in, the first table broke again :(

Hmmm - so I think you are saying as long as add / remove is enabled in the second table, the shortcuts also show on the first table? Any chance I can see your template? You can just add it to a reply under the Options tab.
