    Cascading drop down problem

Hi, I am a newbie to InfoPath, but have found this application incredibly useful and easy to use, shame 2013 is to be the last version, especially as I have only just discovered it. Anyway, I have created a form which I am quite proud of I have created two drop down fields that are cascading drop downs, so the selection in field 2 is dependant on the value selected in field 1 using a filter. However, although this works perfectly, if, after having selected the value in field 2, I can go back to field 1 and change it to another value, even though it does not relate to the data in field 2 (if that all makes sense). Does anyone know how I can prevent the user from changing the value in field 1 if the value in field 2 has already been selected? Alternatively, is there a way of triggering a popup message to say that the two values do not match?

    Re: Cascading drop down problem

    Hello,

    Welcome to InfoPathDev.

A quick solution to prevent the user from changing the value on the first drop-down list is by adding a Formatting rule. In InfoPath 2013, click on the first drop-down control, under the home tab click Managed Rules. At the right portion of the page, add a new Formatting rule with a condition that the 2nd drop-down field is not blank. At the bottom portion of the rule, tick the check box which says Disable this control. Hope this helps.
