    How to add one total value from one repeating table to one category from another repeating table

    Hi Everyone,

    I have a question.

    I have an expense form that has two repeating tables.  The first table is for Mileage only with different columns and calculations.  The second table is for General Expenses, i.e. Meals, Lodging, Transportation, and Mileage.

    My organization has some General Expenses that are classified as Mileage for accounting purposes.

    I have another question posted located at http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/t/27728.aspx that asks how to summarize the General Expense amounts into a summary table by categories so another department can process it for payroll purposes.

    After that question is answered, I need to know how to add the Total Mileage amount calculated from the Mileage repeating table into the summary table by category where the category = Mileage.

    To help make this more clear:

    The Mileage table has Date, Begin Location, End Location, Odometer readings, Miles and the amount based on the miles * the Federal Reimbursement Rate for the date.

    The General Expense Table has Date, Expense Description, Category, and Cost.

    Both tables have totals in the footers of the tables.

    The Summary table has Category and Total Amount.  I’d like to add the Total Amount from the footer of the Mileage table to the Mileage Category from the General Expense summary table and not in any other category.

    For example:

    My Total Mileage Amount = $100.00

    My General Expense Categories are as follows:

    Mileage = $50.00

    Continuing Education = $35.00

    Lodging = $750.00

    Etc.

    My Summary table should look like this:

    Mileage = $150.00 ($100.00 from the Mileage Table and $50 from the General Expense by Category table

    Continuing Education = $35.00

    Lodging = $750.00

    Etc.

    How would I accomplish this?

    Thanks so much.

    Hi MittyMuffikins,

    Is your summary table a repeating table? If so, you may use a formula similar to this pattern sum(fieldA[TableACategory = SummaryCategory]) + sum(fieldB[TableBCategory = SummaryCategory]) , if not then you may try a formula similar to sum(fieldA[TableACategory = ActualCategory]) + sum(fieldB[TableBCategory = ActualCategory]) , where ActualCategory is inserted as text manually depending on the category row of the Summary table. Hope this helps.
