Issue in Infopath 2010 Currency Field

    Steps of my task:

1)In  Info path form 2010 i took Text Field Box of Data type-Decimal.

    2) In text box properties I changed Decimal Type format as Currency.

    3) I limited only 6 characters in Text box .

    My issue was:

when ever i entered number in Decimal-type Text box it was converting to currency format , But once the format is converted including $ we are getting 6 characters are limited but if i'm  Removing a number and adding another number i'm unable to enter new number unless until if i remove $ symbol .

    Hi Neelima,

This is caused by the character limitation you have set for the field since after the value has been converted, the field will now have a total of 11 characters, thus preventing you from changing the value. You may try using a default formula for the field:

    substring(., 1, 6)

(Set this formula at the field's properties section, select fx button, and enter the formula) This will return only six numbers to your field, then set your text box character limit to 11.

Let me know if this solution works for you.

    Hi Don Stephen Lambatin,

Thanks for your solution Don, I have Tired your formula it's working but my case was to enter only 6 characters and i need to modify it .

Ex :Entering the values like 123456 after conversion the value was $123,456.00

Now we need to replace 4 number with 8  and that should reflect like $123,856.00 but for me unable to replace the number.

Re: Issue in Infopath 2010 Currency Field

Since the text box only has a limit of 6 characters, it will not allow modification if the field already has the currency values (since its more than 6 digits). So instead of having only one text box, I used the same field for a different text box control which has a display limit of 11 characters. The trick performed here is a simple hide and show formatting rule which hides the initial text box if it has been filled with data, and shows the new text box after the data has been set . Please check the form I am attaching for your reference (save the form and open in design mode). Hope this helps.
