Hi there,
I had a problem reporting on repeating table data in Sharepoint, so I created 2 form libraries - submission and processing. Both libraries use the same form template (content type).
The user submits the form to the submission library which stores global content for the form suite - ie permit number, requestor details, job information - and generates a permit number based on the library ID.
For each permit there are multiple sub activities. When the sub activity section is completed, the user submits the form to the second library in order to retain the common permit ID number and information that pertains to the overarching permit. Additional activities/child forms are produced by editing the base form in the submission library.
This was working fine, until someone mentioned that occasionally the global information changes. Therefore, each child form would need to be edited.
To solve this, I created a Form Load rule that sets the global fields to the value entered in the 1st (submission) library. Therefore we update the base form in the submission library, and when the child forms open, the form fields update. This works, however, the child forms must be opened for the Sharepoint columns to display updated information.
Was wondering if anyone has a better idea. I haven't tried using form merge techniques, but perhaps this has potential?
Thank you.
