Having issues connecting to DB in Query Builder trial

    I get this error:

    ----------------------

An error occurred trying to refresh the database description: An error occurred returing the database description.

Please verify the DBXL service account has permissions to your target database.

    ----------------------

I am not sure where to find the DBXL service account to verify this.

Here is the connection string in the web.config file minus the actual server name: <server name="SeverName" connectionString="Integrated Security=true;data source=RemoteMachine\SqlServer"/>

    and the database name: <database alias="AddressTest" name="DBName" server="ServerName"/>

     Would appreciate some direction.

    Thanks!

    Hello Chris,

Your DBXL service account would be the account that is associated with DBXL's app pool as specified in IIS. Do you know how to check that?

If the account is a machine-level service account and the database is on a remote machine, then DBXL will authenticate with the remote machine as the machine account for the machine where DBXL is installed (e.g.  DOMAINNAME\MACHINENAME$), so you would need to grant permissions to that.]

    I could use a refresher :)

I assume that if I change it to my user account, who has access to the DB, that should work, correct?

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi-

On the server where DBXL is installed, you can go to IIS Manager and check the application pools. Check the DBXL application pool to find its identity. That's the account DBXL is running as, and that account needs Read permission to the SQL data you wish to query.
