Hi All:
I've done some searching in the forums and it appears my solution may be in custom coding. However, my experience with InfoPath is approaching the intermediate level (I think :) ). Here is my challenge:
I've created a simple data entry form in InfoPath 2007 that captures basic information. There are no underlying data connections to databases or anything of the sort. The user completes the form and then clicks a submit button which runs a series of rules. The form is then attached to an email and sent. The email recipient opens the form in their email and they are presented a different view. (Their view contains a pair of approve/deny buttons. Each of these buttons also contain rules I created.) Throughout the process as these buttons are clicked, a hidden field value is set before the form is submitted via the email data connections I've defined. The rules that are applied for these buttons follow this order:
-
Set field value = "submitted"
-
Submit using a data connection: [my email submit connection]
-
Show dialog box message "Request submitted"
-
Close the form: No Prompt
Therefore, based on the above rule order, how can I trap for the instances when the user clicks the Cancel button in response to the submission using the email data connection? As you see, clicking Cancel in the email dialog box does not provide me a way of resetting the field value from "submitted" back to something else. And because of that, the form will not submit unless a new one is completed and the user then clicks Send in the dialog box.
Anyone have any tricks they can share?
Thanks everyone!
