Data Connection between Infopath and Excel with XML

Hello, before I start to explain my issue, forgive me my english it´s a little bit rusty.

I am trying to create a form that can be filled by external people and then send back to me and I send it then to my colleague, who is clearing

additional inforomation with the external person. So I thought I make an XML-schema in excel, that is the exact copy of the Infopath schema, and import the

form that I receive from the external person in it. After the import in the excel I send the form to my colleague and he saves it after the talk with the external. To look if my colleague is

ready I just go to the excel and refresh the data and so I can see if the additional information is set. I thought this wouldd be a good way to monitor the whole process with the help of XML, cause we don´t have outlook or sharepoint to generate a common workflow. But I realised that if I have two forms and refresh excel that it overwrites the other form and I see just one entry in it.

So my question if there is a way that this thing actually works or did I make in some point a mistake and that is the reason why this thing is not working.

Thanks a lot for reading and maybe encrypting my english.

    Best regards

    Hi Leipheimer,

I think you could use an InfoPath merge forms feature to combine multiple XMLs and then view those in Excel, but that would require the manual form merge step. Or, you could add code to Excel to create another worksheet and do the aggregation.

We have a standalone tool (Qdabra DBXL Client) that aggregates forms on a local machine and provides the ability to extract data into Excel for reporting. That might be an alternative. You can find a free trial from our Qdabra Web site.

    Good luck,
