Problem with export PDF and screen resolution

    Hello,

    I'm facing a strange problem:

I've developped an InfoPath form for a client, that has to be exported in PDF. The client uses the add in PDF/XPS to export the form in PDF.

When I made tests on my computer, all works fine. This information is perhaps uninteresting, but my screen resolution is 1440*900.

The client told me that he faces a weird problem: when client A (computer's screen resolution 1280*1024) connects on the server which stores the InfoPath application, and opens an InfoPath form, he can make the export, the PDF will be well formated. But when it's client B (computer's screen resolution 1440*900) that connects and makes the export, the PDF is truncated at the end and the extensible sections are cut (one part on one page, the rest on an other page). They have changed computer's B screen resolution to 1280*1024 and the export is all right. What does that mean??? It works on my computer and I don't see the relationship between the screen resolution and the export PDF.

    Has anyone any idea?

    Thanks in advance.

    Nathalie

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Bonjour,

    Merci d'avance.

Re: Problem with export PDF and screen resolution

    Hi Nathalie,

It could mean that they have their font size set different from yours but that would show other problems. Printer drivers are typically hardware dependent and printing support in InfoPath is atrocious (it's essentially the same as IE5).

Sorry I don't have an enlightening reply. I recommend that you add page breaks earlier in your view to prevent the page break from following on a boundary.

Re: Problem with export PDF and screen resolution

    Hi Patrick,

thanks for the answer. I tried to insert some lines to prevent bad formatting, but it didn't change anything. The client has decided to change the screen resolution for client B, and this solution seems to correct the problem. It's not a perfect correction, but it works, so they're satisfied...

If anyone sees anything better, please tell me! :)

I'm facing a new problem with this export PDF (no comment!) : it doesn't recognize the hyperlink! The link works fine on my form, but when I export it in PDF, it's replace by text only...

    Any idea?

     Thanks a lot,

    Nathalie

    Hi again,

So you're using an electronic PDF and you expect the link to show up as blue underline and be clickable, or just print that way?

Re: Problem with export PDF and screen resolution

    Hey Patrick

I have same problem when I try to use ‘Remote Desktop Connection’ to access InfoPath form (InfoPath 2010).

The resolution of the exported PDF depends on Remote desktop size

    1024 X768 (or 1152x864)  -> good

1280 X 1024   ->  not good (there is a horizontal  black line on bottom of page)

1920X 1080 (or full screen)   ->   not good  (there is a vertical  black line on right of page)

Any suggestion to solve this one?

    Thanks a lot.
