Setting a field value from a secondary data source

Running in Office 365 I have Form 2 that picks up information on Form Load from Form 1 via a secondary data source.  Both Forms are saved as a disaster recovery precaution for offline reading on a local server. The problem is that when opening Form 2 offline it looks for the information from Form 1 and cannot find it as it is no longer in a 365 environment and returns no value.  Is there a way to program Form 2 to automatically store the values brought over from Form 1 in the same field?  I have done this by using a duplicate field but that is messy. The client operates in a hurricane zone and needs offline back-up on a read only basis in-case the internet is down for an extended period.

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Does Form 1's data change a lot? That is, does it need to be refreshed every time the second form is opened? Or only when a new form is created?

    Hi Hilary

The information in Form 1 does change but not often the same for Form 2.  Group A will complete Form 1 and when Group B opens Form 2 it will pick up certain information from Form 1 (via secondary data source and a Form Load rule).  Therefore the information in Form 2 is updated when it is opened.  There is not a requirement for the dynamic changing of data in Form 2 when it is open - just on form load. Basically Form 1 is a service enquiry form and Form 2 is a full proposal form if Form 1 is accepted by management. However, if Form 1 is subsequently changed then Form 2 would need to pick up the revised information whenever it is opened. I hope this makes sense. This may happen because the applicant filling in Form 1 may not have all the information to hand at the time it is initially submitted.

    Regards Steve

I guess I'd try to check and see if there was a value in the 2DS for Form 1 in an open rule on Form 2 and set the field's value from there.
