Clear Cell before applying ConCat Formula

    Hi All,

Field (A) gets populated by data from 4 other fields (B,C,D,E). I use a ConCat formula to apply the data in the four other fields (B,C,D,E) into cell A.

B,C,D,E fields can be populated with either blank or "Incomplete", "Rejected", or "Approved".

    So for example

    • B = "Rejected",
    • C = "Incomplete",
    • D = "Incomplete",
    • E = "Approved",
    • thus field A = "Rejected; Incomplete; Incomplete; Approved".

The problem is, if i change the data in either B,C,D,E, it should overwrite what was previoulsy added into Field A form its corresponding field, but instead, it just appends the new data onto the end of the data in field A. Also if I change B,C,D,E to "blank", then it removes all the data from cell A, it doesnt just remove the data i removed from the field i set to blank. I understand that this is because of the rules i have created, but i just need some help with the rules so that it does what I need. Also what forumlas to use to achive this.

I have used SubString-After & Substring-Before, also ConCat, but i am still not able to achieve what i need.

Could someone please recommend the correct forumlas/rules. Much appreciated.

Do you need to show a blank?

doesn't a basic  concat(B, C, D, E) achieve what you're after? Select the box refresh value when formula is recalculated to in Field A

If you need more than that, you could create another field i.e. Reset A when field A is not blank set field A to "blank.
