We are using data connections for retrieving data from SQL, User Profile Services.

The problem is that when we want to update our data connection files (for example add another column or change the table information in the connection), i cannot do it because the Connection is disabled; i am using Local data connection library because we are using Site Content type Templates.

Hi Kasturi,

I am guessing that this is by design for data connection files. You'll have to copy the UDCx file and manually do it and then modify the existing data connection to point to the new UDCx. Hopefully, that will preserve the binding in the form.

Thanks Patrick for replying. Do you mean create a new data connection in the designer and then create a new connection file for that and then delete the old one? Is that the recommendation? Would that impact existing XML Files? Thanks again for your time Sudhakar
